Centennial HS was never able to get over the hump and get over its troubles against the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity on Thursday, as Centennial HS fell 5-3 at Centennial HS after falling behind by three runs in the fifth inning.
Centennial HS scored one run in the sixth on an RBI single by Paul Haberstock. Despite its efforts, Centennial HS couldn't get over the hump.
Bradley Prince, Jr. had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He tripled in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Centennial HS couldn't get anything going so long as Brennan Vincent was on the hill. Centennial HS managed just one hit off of Vincent, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.
Zach Lahey was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just three innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
The bottom of the first saw Centennial HS take an early lead, 2-0. A single by Jonathan Cannon, scoring Jordan Winter and Owen Fitzhugh started the inning off.
The South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity brought home one run in the second inning, and matched that run total in the fifth. In the second, the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity scored on a steal of home, bringing home Caston McDonald.
The game's last lead went to the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity thanks to a third inning rally that saw three runs cross the plate on two sacrifice flys.
